Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Got a new diff cover. It's going to be painted burnt orange to match my valve cover. I am going to tape off the top of the fins so that it's the natural aluminum color for a two tone look. Should be cool
Quality is amazing. Made by PML in the USA/Cali. w00t w00t. Should have bought this years ago. Makes the stock cover look like a joke.

Nice! What's the price tag on something like that?

It was $165. Shipping seemed high to me, close to $30. It was packaged well but honestly they should use USPS flat rate boxes at like $12/15 compared to UPS's $30 fee.
Should make changes much faster/cleaner and it looks cool. I didn't get to paint it at all this weekend due to all the rain. Hopefully sometime this week.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Welp much easier than what I thought...lol
Started with 600 gritt, the 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, then finshed with 2000. It's in the oven now curing. I will then polish the fins with mothers. It's pretty smooth shiny now but I guess just for sake of making it so it doesn't oxidize too crazy the polish will help greatly.
I thought about clearing it but every time I have used VHT or duplicolor clear it ends up yellowing and or making the end product of color look different.
So far this is what it looks like. It's in the oven now curing then I'll polish it up shortly.

It's been a work in progress for two months now...lol It was rusty and nasty looking prior to this. I honestly only did all this since I have the bed off when I changed the fuel pump assembly. Figured why not, and fix it up while I have access to everything and the bed isn't in the way...lol

Drained and filled with prestone flush. Fixed the door sensor (WD-40 and white lithium grease). Fixed the shifter selector, reads true now. And tighten the throttle cable to achieve WOT.
Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Replaced the factory rear open differential carrier with a limited slip carrier.

What you accomplished are my ranger goals, the front is tough but a good sandblasting and repainting will do, the rear needs a lot of work, luckily the rear two bolts rusted completely off so only 4 more o free up and I’ll have my bed off as well lol
Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Scored a bunch of parts off a fx4 level 2 at the junkyard. Seats, rubber carpet and misc interior stuff, front skid plate that I've been wanting forever, rear axle, 4x4 module (the reason I went to the junkyard in the first place, lol). Already have the J style tow hooks so I wasn't interested in the U-shaped ones this truck had. Oh and all those parts were less than 300 bucks. Can't wait to get the axle cleaned up and replace my worn out Auburn LSD with this torsen
