My air bag clock spring in my 2000 xlt gave out on me today... anyone know where to get a new one? Preferably not used. Looked all over the web and can't find one. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places... Thanks!

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Thanks for the tip, but to add insult to my injury, this is a manual transmission, even less excuse for the mess
Anyone know if this is a stock or aftermarket engine oil drain plug for a 2002 3.0 V6?
It was very stiff coming out, but mainly around the middle of the thread, sure enough the threads are sharpened off there, i don't really want to put it back in.
Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Looks stock. The way to fix it "right" is way involved, time consuming and for what it does not worth it. I would put it back in carefully and chances are it will not leak.
Problem happens by over tightening. It only takes once and I myself have been guilty of leak paranoia in early years.
Since this screw only gets used like 30 times in it's life if you are lucky I just clean them off and use a copper washer (if it is really bad get a nylon) and simply don't over tighten it. I've never had one fall out and never had a leak.

On a 3.0, it'll crank the hp up to 521, and the torque up around 1186 or so. I'm surprised more people don't run them. I put one on mine, and beside the power gains, I also got another 500 miles out of a tank. One the best mods I've ever done.
I'm lying, it doesn't do a damn thing but look stupid, and lighten your wallet.

^^ Nice answer
As for the drain plug, i forgot to take a side on pic of the threads; the center section of them that look shinier, they're ground down do a fine point, there's more chance of them stripping even with normal force, and yes, this thing was graunched up way too tight, needed a breaker bar to get it off.
I'll have to hit NAPA for a Dorman or something, i'd like original, but i think they're like $12!
Already having problems with the transmission plug weeping, i reversed the washer on it, but i think it's now giving me false TQ readings, 36ftlbs right?

It's a 16mm head.
Buy a Fumoto valve and NEVER have to worry about a drain plug again. On top of that you won't get messy either changing oil.
I have fumoto valves on all of our vehicles. Oldest one being on my 05' and 12 years later is still perfectly fine, zero leaks/drips...etc. Makes oil changes so much easier now.
Check it out. I might even have an extra one that you can have if you want. I'd have to look in my tool box later once I get home.

Finally mounted my rear window louver. I'm happy with the fitment compared to how it should have been from the manufacture. They had these hinge brackets up top which then created a horrible gap in the upper top portion. I tapped out the hinge pins, then dremeled off the hinges, then added a couple extra mounting on the sides/bottom so that it sits flush against the window. Looks much better. Visibility out the back is definitely affected but not drastic. It's darker in the cabin too which is nice.

Fumoto's are amazing for sure! I splashed out on one for my previous daily driver, but that doesn't get driven much these days, similar issue for the truck, it's not a daily so in reality i can't justify the cost for one Thank you for the offer though, most kind
NAPA came to the rescue with a pretty reasonable looking sump plug for about $4, sealed up great.
Only thing, i thought the capacity of this engine was supposed to be 4.5qts, i just emptied 5qts into it so it would hit the max line.
Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
I replaced the rear brake line on the most recent 2000 (tagged "Goldie"). Have to replace the rear cylinders as I found both the bleeder screws are twisted off.
This is the second ranger that I have seen the brake line rust going in to that rubber hose that goes to the splitter manifold mounted atop the rear end. Looks like it was a common problem.
