I have a 30A fuse and it kinda hangs near the battery.

There's your problem.. The fuse is to big for the wiring.

Just because it's normal doesn't mean it's right. To properly test it would be take a multimeter and set it on amps and turn the lights on and see how much amps run through it then go just a shade bigger on the fuse. Say if 10 amps flowed through it then the best bet would be 15 amp fuse if I'm correct.

Proper way to do it is to look at the specs on the light being installed for the max draw, THEN choose your fuse. I don't think I would ever install and wire something in order to measure usage.
As an example I am installing an onboard air compressor on the bike for the air ride suspension. So I looked at the compressor, and it specifies max draw of 20A. This tells me fuse size, relay size and wire size I need.

But his was already a pre made wiring harness but I see what you mean like my light bar pulls 10 amps so it's fused for 15 while my pods are 1 amp and they are fused for 5. But if you didn't have the information stating the amp draw then I believe my way would be OK to use

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
The proper order to things is as follows:
Calculate the amperage of the load to be served.
Base your wire size off the calculated load.
Base your fuse size off the selected wire size.
The overcurrent protective devices (AKA - Fuses/Breakers) are actually made & therefore sized to protect the wire connected to it..not directly the device served.
They are all "related" - however, there is technically an "official order" to things.

I go by ratings provided. As for wire size. Bigger the better

Yep - that works if you trust what you're buying...or if it's a simple circuit (one OCPD to one device).
I prefer to go off my knowledge & calculate/size items correctly myself.

I don't know enough for all that. If I have questions on anything I ask my audio guys. But most of the good quality products give correct ratings for fuses or lower . Now some give some bs fuse ratings

At one point - neither did I. lol
However like anything - put in a little effort & you can be self-sufficient.

Perhaps - but once someone learns the proper way to calculate everything...you'll never have to deal with any '"bs fuse ratings".
Plus, the only way to know if it's a "bs fuse rating" in the first place is to calculate it properly (either yourself or by others)...or hang back & confirm it was wrong once it goes up in flames...lol

What PSI should I keep my tires at?
Anyone ever tried these LED's for their cluster?

Too many variables & not enough information provided.
If stock combination (tire & wheel size) - you can just go off the door tag. Everything changes if loaded and/or aftermarket sizes are utilized.
However, no matter what - the chalk test is really the most accurate & concrete way to confirm everything.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
My seat swap is a lot harder than I thought, didn't even think about the seat belt thingy that's on the seats. Had to jerry rig the little thing with a bolt I found because my Ranger seats had a bolt welded onto the side of the tracks, but the explorer seats don't. Got the passenger side done, driver side will be done Saturday probably
