Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
In the midst of changing the seized fan clutch out.
Trying to figure out how to get a torque wrench with a 36 mm crowsfoot in between the fan and the belt to tighten it up.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
I cleaned and re-oiled my K&N filter.
I also noticed that my cruise control indicator isn't working so I ordered some LED lights for the instrument cluster. Since I have to take it out I might as well change everything, they are all 18 years old now.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Sold it! I rescued the 2000 XLT, 3.0, auto from a junk yard outside the Atlanta Airport 4 years ago with 220,000 miles, a seized engine and a poor shifting transmission. The interior was ragged out, the tires were bald, and the a/c and cooling system were both broken.
A labor of love over the next couple of month while I redid the engine, put new shift solenoid and adjusted the bands in the transmission, new o-rings in the a/c to seal that system, new ball joints and tie rod ends. I made a slide for the Toyota Camry leather seats-those were nice! I put 17"wheel from a Dodge Durango and new Pirelli Scorpion tires on it.
I put a few thousand miles on it then let my grandson drive it the next 40,000 miles. The diff gave out, and an acquaintance traded me a 4×4 Kia Sportage with under 100k.
Tomorrow I am driving to south Georfia to look at a basket case 2002 4 door Ranger.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
Discovered a brake cylinder leak on drivers side rear brake, when I got home from a couple of quick errands today! Added fluid to reservoir for now. Parked in driveway now. Will not be driven, until I can get appointment made, to have to checked and fixed! May also have brakes redone at same time. Due to have drums/rotors replaced anyway. Just gotta call shop that works on truck, in the morning, before I head out for dialysis for the day!

112% major reason I park my Ranger for the most part in the winter and drive the Subaru is the lacking of heated mirrors on the truck. Links?? OE mirror assemblies or aftermarket? How did you handle the wiring and the timer?
Thanks!!

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV
I was out at the wrecker and saw that the Ford Explorer (not sure of the year) had the same shape mirror glass as the Ranger so I popped them out for $5 for the pair. Took them home and all I had to do was take out my mirrors and put the new ones in. It is just 2 wires from each side and then I made the bracket under my dash to run the wires to. The switch is from a Ford Escape (or explorer which ever one is the stubby one) bought a 10 minute relay on Ebay for 4 or 5 dollars. Played around on my work bench with a battery the switch, relay and a small fan to figure out the proper wiring. It took me about 3 days from running wires experimentation/fabrication/painting including installing the gauge and the other switch that turns on a relay to charge the battery in my camper when I am driving.
