It's a 1995 up for 2800$. He said he'd do 2200, I may try to talk him down to 2k.
Anyways, he says it has new tires, A/C, timing belt, drive belt(?), cam and crank deal, new plugs and wires, and a transmission service.

He claims he has all the receipts for it. What do you guys think? I used to have a 3.0, terrible gas mileage but reliable.

If you keep it stock you'll get great gas mileage. Seats have been changed. 2k isn't bad if the motor and trans have been overhauled like he stated.

I don't know much about the 4 cylinder. Will this be a 2.3? Are they reliable?

I'm just looking for a commuter. I have an f150 but I'm putting more miles on it than I'd prefer.

dead reliable. Check the timing belt though. It is a non-interferance engine, so if it does break, itll leave you on the side of the road, but no damage. Mine has 305,000 miles, runs strong minus the whole burning antifreeze on cold starts. I highly recommend the 2.3 lima. Just no power to speak of

2.3 is the best 4 cylinder motor I've ever dealt with. They are very reliable. I've had to change the timing belt in every single one I've had though. I can do it in about half an hour in my sleep if I have to now lol. I always got Mid to high 20s for fuel mileage. Loved every one I've owned and wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy another.

Mine is a 97 2.3 auto with 4.10 and 31s I average 16.5 in town with highway mix. I'll be pulling the motor when I have another truck to drive to build it and turbo it.

no doubt. Lima is the way to go. My 99 Mazda B2500 has 348,xxx and still runs like a top. My 2000 2.5 ranger only has 83,xxx

2.3 5 speed is better all around. Better power displacement and better mpgs. But the auto works good. Keep it stock and you'll see good numbers.

Are the b2500 any good? I currently have a b3000 4x4 right now. I've been told the b2500 aren't near as good as the 2.3 Rangers. Ive had a 99 ranger with a 2.5 but it was an auto and it was alright I guess. I'm just not a big automatic transmission fan.

Mazda trucks are the same as a ranger. Looks are different

I passed on the buy.

The tires were not brand new like he said, there was a lot of play in the steering wheel, the check engine light was on, and the truck seemed to have a bad oil leak because when I got under the truck, there was a lot of fresh wet oil.

Oh and the interior was pretty rough. Maybe I'm being too picky.
