Default the worst night ever.

I have only been a member to this forum for just around a year. Got my ranger from my wife a year ago and had a lot of needed help with that I did get from this forum.. But Tuesday knight my son and his girlfriend where over for a bbq after that he wanted to take her home.. He wanted to us the ranger (his truck likes gas A 68 c10) so he left 10 mins later a get a call from his phone. Answered yes son it was a voice I didn't know that said he was in a car accident.... oh my gawd his mom and I got in his truck and he was only maybe 5 miles from the house.. As we arrived he was siting down on the side of the road with his girl friend cover in blood. Said an animal ran across the road and he lost control trying to miss it. If you know my son he is a eagle scout that has always loved animals and has never like roller coaster, swings or anything of the such. So when he says he wasn't speeding we as his parents believe him, if he has ever done anything wrong he has always owned just the way he was raised and is.... but back to the worst knight, as he missed the animal he lost control of the truck when it went on the shoulder/ditch and totaled the lite red ranger. They had head trama as that knight they didn't have there seat belts on? very unlike the both of them... but they are both doing good and walked away with just a head full of stitches and some bumps. Thank GOD they are both ok...Sorry such a winded post just needed to post it I guess my way of getting over this near major tragedy in there young lives... Thanks for all of the help with this truck when I needed it this site is the best..

Glad they're alright. Rangers can be replaced, lives can't.

Will be a long hard lesson for your son.
Hit the animal don't swerve.
I learned that lesson the same way about his age too.
Glad to hear everyone walked away.

Last one i swerved from I rolled and almost was killed and almost hurt my dad. It's easier to hang a fender and buy a bumper than it is to buy a coffin. glad to hear they're ok.

Glad the kids are ok. Looks like he was probably speeding. Why was an Eagle Scout not wearing his seat belt ? Did you look for the animal's tracks ?

After reading this two days ago, yesterday, driving my 1996 3.0 i encountered a deer at point blank doing only 30. I got on the brakes, and gradually got into them, not slamming them so i didnt skid. I turned a little hard left to try and avoid the deer, but all under countrol. I ended up giving him a good shove with my bumber, not even messing up my lights. Not bad for a nervous teen!

The ranger did its job IMO. They walked away. That's all you can ever ask from a vehicle.

Screw that, i will rather hit an animal than swerve. OR SLAM ON THE BRAKES, BUT NOT SWERVE. No seatbealts, they will lear n... the hard way.

I totaled one of my favorite rides (96 Explorer) because a damn deer. I hit him doing 65, only had time to slam the brakes. He jumped over the Honda in the left lane and landed right in front of me. I wasn't wearing my seat belt either, air bag hurt like a fother mucker.

I haven't had a deer encounter in my truck thankfully but in my mom's car when i first started driving a deer ran out in front of me while I was doing 55 and I got on the brakes and swerved around it, missing it by inches. You don't want to hit a deer in a PT Cruiser. Or do much of anything in a PT Cruiser.
