Default Waiting patiently????? NOT!

My dealer advises that my 2010 is slated to be at his shop on the 28th of May. It has already changed from 24th May to the 28th. Should I expect an on time delivery?
One other question....I have been a member of the "Ranger Power Sports Forum" for some time. I enjoy reading there as well as here. I find it frustrating and interesting that I cannot post and cannot use their PM system. I would like to find out why I don't have posting priviledges but the site won't let me PM anyone to ask. Can someone suggest a solution?

Lol yeah, i ordered mine the 1st of march, with a promised delivery on the 26th, that got changed to the end of march, then the 18th of april, and i got it the fifth of may.

This has to do with salespeople who will lie to you to make a quick sale, then get you off their backs. My truck only began assembly in the second week of april if memory serves me right.

I have been a member for some time.....maybe a year or more but have never been able to post. I posted on one Ranger forum before but I'm not sure if it was that one or not. I just find it frustrating that I can't even ask a moderator what the problem is. I sign in and the site recognizes me but that is the extent....I can read posts only! Whether they may have taken priviledges away from inactivity I am wondering. I ordered the truck on the 29th of March. I can't think that Ford would want to give a date that they couldn't keep... bad for customer relations.

It's not Ford's fault, it's the dealership's. The salesperson enters the order, and Ford proceeds to build it once it's done with all the orders that were placed before yours.

It's like blaming the cook because the cashier at McD's told you you'd get your burger immediately after you placed your special order.

Imo, the large rebates we get from Ford (the manufacturer, not the independant dealership) make the wait worth it.

No, not the salesperson in my case. He told me straight up that the last Ranger he had delivered took twelve weeks so I should be prepared. He calls weekly and gave me the 24th date and then the 28th date, all the while saying he couldn't be sure. I am now going to ask him if they will buy my old Ranger for the $1,000.00 offer. I hope I can do that as it will help finding a home for it. Dave

lol your salesman is full of shit, Ford doesn't change dates, he's lying.

Mine got here 2 days after the promised date, while they had problems with the train worker unions.

This is why I bought mine off the lot, and the fact it was $10,000 cheaoer than ordering.

Couldn't or wouldn't buy one from the lot as I couldn't find one with what I wanted. I wasn't going to have another 4.0 or automatic transmission.

They can always ship one in from another dealership.

i work for a dealership, and as part of my job, i check in cars when they are delivered. The salesmen, and even the guy in charge of ordering the cars has no idea when shit's coming. they have a general idea, but they have no idea when. because they could make the car, but not have a hose or some bull shit like that, and it can sit there for two months waiting on this hose. little shit like that. plus after it is loaded it'll probably take atleast 2 days. well there are truckers who are at our dealership who come from Detroit, later in the day, but that's because of I 75. If it's some dealership in BFE, it could take a while. and plus, when it comes in, it might be damaged so they won't tell you it's in and have to fix it, thus makin you wait even longer. Trust me, that happens a lot too...

I am surprised the sales guy did not do a web search on other delerships in the area to see if they had your particular Ranger then all they would have to do is a dealer swap for the vehicle. I told Ford I want my truck now if not I am getting a Dodge lol and poof they dealer swapped for my truck got it two days later.

Actually you are wrong. I was a fleet dealer for a dodge Dealership in AZ and when you place the order you get a confirmation from the factory on estimated delivery date. the hold up is at the Factory. Now it is because the companies do not wish to have a ton of inventory in stock that they have to float in this poor economy so rather than taking a short time to build a truck it now takes much longer time frame.

On one order the factory changed my order date 6 times and 4 months on an order of Dodge diesels

The dealership checked the whole of this Province (Ontario) and could not find what I wanted anywhere. I could have had any number of combinations all with a 4.0 V6 and 4X4 options. It seems that the only 4 cylinder trucks they build for stock are the bare bones standard truck. My old girl is working just fine so I am not in a big hurry except to have something new.
