On one order the factory changed my order date 6 times and 4 months on an order of Dodge diesels
I don't know how dodge works, but that's how ford works.

You can't get a delivery date before you get a vin issued. You can't get a vin issued before they are ready to begin assembly.

Lol, i couldn't find a well equipped manual transmission black coloured truck myself, and that included ontario and most of the maritimes!

For those who are following this thread, I just called my salesperson. He told me it is in transit (rail #TTGX913743) and will arrive there on the 29th. He said deliveries have been pretty well bang on lately. I asked him as well about the recycle your ride program and he advised that my old truck qualified for the $1,000.00 rebate from Ford as well as $300.00 from the Ontario Government. He said that if the truck was in excellent condition for it's age it would qualify for more $$$$$, but alas, it's not. I don't know how to check the rail transit number. I will put any updates on here.

I myself work for a Ford dealership. I know that in our dealership we will do anything to trade or get a vehicle from another dealership for a customer. This is simply because Ford isn't producing the mass amount of trucks to keep inventory down in these economic times. One reason Ford needed and took no government bailout!

Due to this orders are taking longer and the order dates are just estimated not guaranteed.

Eeeeeee-Ha! Ranger has landed.....I just got a call from the dealership to say it had just rolled off of the carrier. I will pick it up late tomorrow afternoon or early Friday. It ends up being early by three days. My first new truck since the mid 70's.

Well, I have it and is it ever nice. I will attempt to add a couple of photos of the old and the new. I had an interesting drive home. I was impressed with the way it handled the hills. In comparing the new with the old I did note that at 80 Km/H (50 MPH) the tach was at about 2,000 RPM. In the old when I was at 2,000 Rpm the truch was reading nearly 100 Km/h. I am going to post my old one here for sale as they couldn't take it on the Recycle your Ride program. Dave

Nice! What options did you get? Why wouldn't they take the old truck?

Options....air conditioning, cruise and tilt, full sized spare. 4Cyl. with 5 speed manual transmission. Ford changed their incentive packages from the time I purchased until the time it was delivered. So, if I wanted the "Recycle" program I would have to take the whole package of incentives which go with it and that way I would lose my $1,000.00 Cosco rebate that I got with the first package when the deal was signed....so I decided to keep the truck and attempt to sell it here. If it doesn't seel then I'll just turn it in for scrap at $300.00. Dave

If I had to get a new Ranger I would get the blue 4x4 after owning a black Ranger I can offically say they look nice but shows scratches and dents. Congrats on the new truck hope you enjoy it I would hang onto the 4x4 and maybe do a little maintenance on it. Those Ontario snow storms can a day in hell and if you wanted your truck even faster and spent more tim with it I would have come here to Alberta for it 4x2 trucks are not that popular over here.

I especially like the fact that I have gone 175 clicks and am only down 1/8 of a tank. It is interesting though that the air conditioner does not have an ON/OFF switch. If you want to just use the fan to blow in some outside air what do you do....or am I just not understanding it correctly? When I told the salesperson that I intended to run full synthetic oil in it he advised me not to do that for the first 18,000 clicks so the rings would seat properly....OLD WIVES TALE??

Congrats on finally getting the new truck

Shouldn't they honor the deal at that was in place at the time you ordered the truck?

Yes, they did honour the deal that was in place when I ordered the truck! I tried to add a recycle your ride to the deal but that was not available at the time I made the original purchase so it was either go with the current set of incentives or stay with the ones that were on in March when I ordered it. I intend to sit my truck out in front of my house with a "For Sale" sign on it and ask $750.00 OBO. If worse comes to worse I can take it to the metal dealer as they are paying $300.00 right now for trucks.
Just a comment about fuel economy.....I only had 210 Km's on it and filled up. I couldn't squeeze any more than 17 liters in so, doing the math.....Imperial gallon....35.1 Mpg, and using our system 56 Kmg. This was mixed driving. I am elated. This would equate to about 29 Mpg to a US gallon.
