Been my experience once a leaky AC always a leaky AC.
Miserable in the summer heat and fogged up windows in the winter.
For $6500 Id want that AC to work or pass on that truck.

My sentiments exactly for the price I'd just ab out want a mint truck given the age and mileage. Rangers are common enough around where I live that maybe they just go for less here. 6.5k isn't a whole lot but definitely higher than what i'd expect to pay here in texas for a 10 year old truck with iffy A/C. But not a bad one at all. I had a leaky A/C on mine but I went ahead and just replaced the whole system myself.

Come on up to the northeast. They sell for that all the time.

A lot of times people will replace the clutch when the slave goes bad.

I have not done the research but I am assuming Ford did something with the computer programming as its the same drivetrain but drives totally different. I had a 2000 3.0. Love the truck, hated that 3.0 death anchor with a passion.
The newer Rangers have traction control, and is part of the reason I think they take off differently. If you just hammer an older automatic 4.0 they will spin tires to the moon and back.

Price sounds good, as long as it's sound...little jobs like AC, cruise, etc. wouldn't stand in my way if I really wanted it and it checked out OK.

Damn really? I can't go to the grocery store without passing 20 rangers here. Finding one in a junkyard on the other hand...what a pain that is I call ahead and occasionally get lucky but then again it's usually picked clean...

Thats correct my good man, El Valle. Didn't think there was that much variance in vehicle resale price between markets. I knew supply and demand and all that but given that its a faily common truck I'd have thought maybe a few hundred in differance tops. Live and learn.

It can be made into a reliable DD by replacing the basic stuff. Fluids and filters, dried out plug wires plugs rotor and cap ( if so equipped) O2 sensors. I call it base lining. Other stuff should be checked too. Brakes , suspension, steering, exhaust. Tires. Do this before the car is in use not as you go. I've got at least 1200$ in parts alone in the Rat so far and I dont use it very often
