Default 2002 Ford Ranger 4.0 advice
Going to look at 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4 with 4.0L with 78k miles. Any thing I should be concerned about with it?

Listen for timing chain noise around 2500 rpm and your usual used vehicle checks

yes. Hit and miss but that is right in the year range

Check the front hub bearings and make sure there are no ABS faults mine went out at seventy thousand miles a bad bearing.

the tensioners aren't the problem. It's the guides

Front wheel bearings are rarely an issue.

Front wheel bearings do go out at that mileage. Depends on where the vehicle has been. If it has been off road in mud and water. Ask me how I know.
