Default Organizing ratchet straps

How are you guys organizing your ratchet straps in your trucks? Any good ideas? Mine always turn into spaghetti

I just got 2 new packs of Snap-On straps at Costco.

Roll your strap around the hooks and store. I threw all mine in a tool bag

I used to just wrap them around themselves & tie them together (rubber band, velco strap, rope etc.).

I don't use them for my ratchet straps, but I use them for microphone and instrument cables.

They make both velcro cable straps, and reusable zip ties that work wonders.

Truckers tip. Remove the long strap from the ratchet. Start at the end WITHOUT the hook, and wind it up. You do it like that, so when you throw the strap over the load, you don't clunk someone on the head on the otherside of the load with the hook, it hurts. Keep your straps on top of each other in your storage box, and the ratchets as well. No need for zipties, rubber bands or anything.

Another tip. Don't let the excess strap just flap in the breeze, it'll fray. Tuck the end into the ratchet, and give it a crank. End is now secure. Then layer the rest of the strap onto itself, tuck it between the load and strap, and give it another crank, until strap is tight. Also, when inserting strap into ratchet, give it half a turn, that way the strap won't vibrate as bad in the wind, and cause fraying along it's length.

I do it every day.

Well yeah you don't need to tie up big trucker straps, they are like 8"-10" in diameter when rolled up. Easy to stack.

LOL, true. Never thought about the little ones. Even the ones I use for myself are all 3"X 29' or so. Guess I went overboard there. But some of those tips can still be used for the smaller straps.

I have the same straps. They are junk. The handles snap on them. Can't believe snapon would sell something that breaks so easy. I've got like 4 with broken handles.

You don't need to worry about hitting people with the hook. It's not a 13'6" load you can't see over.

Having the hook inside gives you a weight, like casting a fishing line.

Yes, big trucker straps are a different story, they're also heavy enough alone to throw. These little feather weight straps will blow away in the wind when you throw them up
