Has anyone else seen this Ranger ('Ranger Max') and the rumors it may replace the currrent Ranger in 2011? Supposedly a version of it is now available in Thailand but I've had a difficult time trying to figure out if it's coming to the US. Some sites say maybe, others say yes.

That looks like a cross between a Nissan and a Ridgeline. I don't like it.

Agreed.

I'm not really a fan of quad-cab pickups. Nothing against them, some look really good, it's just not my preference. But I do hope Ford will wake up and produce a quad cab midsize here in the U.S. to at least compete with the other companies that have them.

On every forum there's always people who complain about the lack of a quad cab Ranger here. While I think that it's silly that they don't make one in the US but they're available everywhere else in the world, my guess would be that they haven't bothered to build one here because they build the Sport-Trac.

Yeah probably right the only 4wd from Ford we get here apart from the Ranger is the Kuga.
They reckon its not a bad little car to drive though.

After a little more searching, here's the official 'New Ranger' site from Ford Australia:
Ford Australia - New Ranger Microsite Homepage

That doesn't tell you much .

Here are some pics of the actual production Ranger:

Maybe they're returning the favor since the Venza is a total rip off of the Edge.

For what it's worth....

Ford plans steady stream of global, high-mpg vehicles

Quote:
Ranger: The life of the current Ranger was extended into 2011. At that time, Ford is expected finally to pull the plug on the aging truck.

What Ford does next for a compact pickup is unclear. Executives have said they may import a version of the next-generation small pickup that Ford sells outside North America. If approved, the U.S. model would be based on Ford's new T6 global compact pickup platform, engineered by Ford of Australia. Timing is unclear.

Explorer Sport Trac:
The Explorer-based pickup is expected to be discontinued in 2010.
