Plus it was my opinion that your advice was crap. Others agreed. This thing you post on is called a forum, where others can chime in with their opinions. You got butthurt because my opinion is that you shouldnt own a vehicle if you cant afford to changr out a pair of shackles.

You're making this more than it is. If you were in front of me I would tell you that you gave stupid fycking advice while looking you in the eye. What's so hard to understand? If your vehicle is in need of a repair fix it before it totally fails and causes potential catastrophic results.

A few thoughts...
-Good choice on the manual. Paired with that 4-cyl, your truck will run until the frame cracks.
-You're right, the trip to the DMV sucks. I was out a solid $300 between tax, new plates, reg, and all that other garbage...
-Don't worry, visibility is actually AWESOME in a regular cab once you get used to your surroundings. Parking may confuse you a bit right now, but trust me, my truck's a foot longer than yours and I can park it like Ace Ventura.
-Get a universal flange (with the bolts) from auto zone for like $7 and some of that muffler tape to help you out with that exhaust leak... had the exact same problem, and that's what I did to sorta "fix" it. It's still louder than normal, but by no means deafening. And it's a house truck, so who cares, right?
-Worry about the rear shackles, but don't REALLY worry about them that much. If one breaks, it can be replaced, and not cause much harm to the truck (leaf spring might puncture the bed, but who cares, you can just weld in a piece of sheet metal IF that happens). My rear shackles are rusty as hell and holding up just fine.
Just figured I'd share my thoughts since I'm 6 months ahead of ya. Best of luck!

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!
Had a 93 with the four banger, tall hills on a hot summer day called for downshifts to get over it. NEVER had a problem with the motor, keep oil and water in it and you will be amazed at how many miles it has left in it. 65 so I remember when nobody gave a thought on not having power steering because it wasn't an option. You'll get used to it and get some free exercise to boot. Congrats.
