Possibly buying a 1997 4x4 4.0
I have been wanting a Ranger for a while now and recently came across this forum...I liked what I saw here so I decided to ask about a possible purchase.
I found a 1997 4x4 4.0 extended cab, the body needs some minor work (hood dings, needs a new grill/bumper) the transmission was replaced at 100K, and it currently has 180K on the truck. It could stand for a paint job, but i am not too concerned with that. The owner is the second owner and has had it for 15 years. He bought a newer model and wants to sell this one. I offered him 800$ for it and he said he would do that, runs great, no major problems(needs a new ty rod which he has, and an alignment) comes with a spare set of rims and a cabin top...what do you guys/gals say? would i be a fool to pass it up? or a fool to buy it? Really looking forward to your responses. Thanks in advance.

Buy it. You won't regret it... If/when it eventually breaks down you will be able to sell it and all the stuff it's coming with for more than $800....

800 for that is a good price. Even if it blows up in a week you could get your money back out of it.

Re: Possibly buying a 1997 4x4 4.0
Just got back from seeing the truck in person for the first time...made the buy, the guy was super cool and a Ranger enthusiast, he upgraded from the 97 to the last model year they made.
I will be putting it on the road sometime this week, my school schedule pretty much kicks my ass until Friday, which is the day before rifle season opens up here in southern NY. All in all id say perfect timing...theres a ten pointer running around my uncles property that will look perfect in the bed of my (new to me) Ranger. Pictures coming soon, will try to post a bunch of progress pics too.
Thanks for your input yall
