Default 6.0 powerstroke in a ranger?

So I've seen a few Rangers with 6.0s in them.
Wondering if it's actually possible to have reliable truck with a 6.0 in it!

6.0 and reliable in the same sentence? Lmfao 6.0 are junk. And have major issues.

If your set on diesel cummins is a better bet easier to fit and way more reliable the 6.0's have serious head gasket problems and when they blow in the ranger it will most likely have to be pulled to fix because of space. And its not an if on that motor but when.

6.0's are not junk. If you were putting it in a ranger obviously you would do head studs and delete the egr so reliability of the motor wouldn't be an issue. International made a 4.5l that is just a 6.0 - 2 cylinders. I have always wanted to use it in a ranger type application. I think a 6.0 would be pretty heavy on the front end unless you were doing sas and such.

hahaha my 6.0L is more reliable than my ranger. ya'll need to research the engine some more. they arent as bad as they were when they rolled off the line in 2003 (specially with the advances in tuning).

6.0 are a hit and miss. Some are good and some arent. To make them bullet proof it isn't cheap. Now if you have a factory turbo powerstroke, I think those were 6.4. They are absolute garbage.

If your gonna go through the trouble to put a diesel in your truck swap in a 4bt. A lot more reliable and a better fit.

I was just at a diesel race competition at a local drag strip, and all of the trucks, except a jacked up 7.3, that were fords that raced were 6.0s, and they had the fastest times of the night except for a couple of "drag" dodged, which were towed in on trailers. All of the 6.0s that ran, didn't have any problems. I believe the only thing that broke that night were a couple of duramaxes with tie rod problems (go figure) and one guy in his dodge threw it in reverse halfway down the track, and broke a tie rod doing it. So they aren't bad engines if you work on them. Now it's affordable to have a 6.0 powerstroke that's reliable because to make one reliable+buying the truck is still cheaper than buying a stock 6.4 or 6.7.

I think everyone is forgetting he's asking about putting it into a Ranger....

A freaking Ranger people - building any engine to make it 'reliable' would be the least of his concerns........

Unicorn & magic bean type thread.

----------

If he has enough money, time or skill to install a 6.0 into a Ranger & have it functional - I'm sure he can handle having it built.
