Exclamation SOS Ranger lifespan

I just got the news that my 98 Ranger has a blown head gasket and some bad engine damage. The shop couldn't quote the amount but told me well over $1,000 to fix it. My question is with 157,000 miles, is it worth getting fixed or am I just better off scrapping it? I've already sunk a lot in repairs over the last few years and am starting to feel like I'm never gonna get out what I put in at this point. In general, how long can I expect this thing to last if I do fix it?

Frankly if the body is in great shape I would save it and drop a diesel into it. If not time to get a new one

I'd never scrap a vehicle, there's always someone to buy it for the parts, and then you can move on to a newer ranger.

Or, like mentionned above, swap the engine!
