Default Gun Storage

I have a concealed weapons permit and I would like to keep my handgun locked in my Ranger (2003). Of course I lock my truck and I have a remote start/alarm on the truck. But it sure would be nice to have something to store and "lock" my gun in to. So far the only thing I can find is made for the F150 and other large trucks. Any suggestions?

Norman

You can always get one of the small biometric safes. But they're about $200 or so. I am getting one so when I get a extended cab I can do a little fabricating and replace the little hydraulic jack kit/cup holder space with a custom easy access "out of sight, out of mind" gun storage for when I go places I can't carry.

I like your idea of replacing the jack kit area. I also thought about the small safes and bolt it down to the floor. I will keep my options open and see if anyone else has any experiences or good ideas.

Thanks

No problem.

My idea is open to bolting down as well, that's what I wanted to do. If you weld on a small piece to the bottom of the safe you can attach it. Though some of the safes do have bolt hooks already on them (harder to find and usually have a higher cost) But again it requires a little fabrication and some cutting in your truck.

A little easier would be mounting it under the seat if it has a front door raise up opening mechanism.

Another idea is using the little file holder thing on your door. If you have a small enough firearm and find the right box you can weld it right to your door with a little cutting to the panel so it sits flush, and the lock box is always in arms reach.

Keep it going, right now I put mine in a lockable case and put in the compartment behind the seat. My Edge don't have back seats just storage compartments on both sides, at least that's how mine is. Its not totally secure but out of sight. And I don't put anything worth stealing in the truck. No fancy radio, speakers, no whiz bang electronics. I try to make it less of a target for thieves.

Mine stays in the middle console. Always. Not loaded, but a full clip. Always....

Are those weapons I choose to carry on a daily basis or at all? Nope they are range only guns.

and please think before you post and no i could care less if you own that weapon and choose to carry it and look dumb while doing so because thats a good way to insight public annoyance with us firearm owners and land yourself a ticket along with the possibility of losing your firearm.
never did i say i carried it like you are saying
how ever i do take it to the range and leave it in the truck. after shooting we go to eat so that is where the leaving it in the truck comes from
so dont get all ministerial on me
and please i was not trying to be a dick
you seem to have that all to your self!
so you had better start to think before you jump down someones neck with little to no knowledge of what the hell thay where talking about!
it only goes to show how fast people jump to a conclusion.
and you where right it would be stupid to carry such a long weapon and do the dirty harry thing. if buy any means i have pissed you off please fill free to never respond to a damn word i write it would be a welcome out come from you !!!!!

p.s. have a great day

Do you have this mounted/cabled in your truck? It looks like a good product if mounting is used but as far as just locking you weapon in there and leaving it in the truck...not so much. I am liking the price! just curious as to how you secure it??
