yeah, I mean I really haven't looked into it a ton, I just thought that a 29.6" tire would be a good upgrade coming from stock 225/70r15s, and still have me getting decent mileage. And I haven't looked into the lift much yet, these are just things I'm hoping to progress in information and knowledge soon, and hoping to have one on by the end of this summer. But, all depending on funds of course. Thanks for putting me down easy, I've run into a lot of pricks on this site and I appreciate you not being one of them!

It's no problem. Sometimes people on here forget what the forum was made for, to help people out with their rangers no matter the task. I'm running 265/70r15's upgrading from the 215/70r15's my grandpop put on it before he gave it to me. It's quite the difference just going to that. But I knew I did a ton more highway/street driving then I ever will off-roading so I stuck with touring tires. Actually saved up and bought Michelin latitude tours. Comfy ride and rated high for has mileage all while lifting my truck up 2inches give or take. What is the gearing of your truck? I have 3.73's and they seem to be the perfect combo for the tires I chose because now I average around 16-17 city and 21+ highway and that's all with the 3.0L v6. I also invested in a super chips tuner as well and have it tuned to 87 octane performance mode. All in all I've made out well. Before we high jack this guys thread, how about you start up a build thread and post some mods you've already done and some mods you may plan for the future. All you have to do is ask questions and people on here should answer them respectfully

Here is my suggestion(s):
1.) invest in a suspension lift kit.
2.) get bigger tires (this will help A LOT).
3.) find a friend or family member to go with you (its safer and more fun this way).
4.) maybe get some off-road lights (not required).
5.) Keep tow-straps in your truck, just in case.
6.) invest in a good set of rear gears' and a limited-slip or locker rear axel.
**KEEP IN MIND OF REGULATIONS AND KNOW YOUR LIMITS**

People say 4X2 trucks can't go off-road, but they will if they have the right parts . I've gone mudding in my ford ranger a few times and have fun doing it, but I didn't push my luck. Good luck with your truck .

just get a damn 4x4, there's no sense in dumping money in a 2wd auto truck that will get stuck the first time the ass of it sees any mud, sand or snow.

a set of tires and a lift will cost upwards of a grand alone. Sell the truck and take that money and just get the damn 4x4. then you can go wherever you'd like.

ground clearance is still an issue, even if 4x4s are lifted, bigger tires and all terrains are at least essential for a decent amount of mud,snow...etc
