Default Is this FX4 a good idea??

I'm currently interested (in love) with a 2003 fx4 with 152k miles for 7500$... Is this a good deal or am I just getting the shaft from the dealer? Pardon the possible stupidity here, I'm just a young guy trying to survive financially ya know?

around here that would be too much. you could get a newer fx4 with half the miles for that kind of money. way too much for a 03 with that kind of mileage.

The ford ranger FX4s and FX4 LEVEL IIs are nice trucks. But according to Kelly-blue-book, a 2003 ford ranger FX4 "fair" price is about $5,000. What really matters is 2 things...How much do you want a ford ranger? and what condition is the ford ranger in?

So what should I tell the dealer? A stock truck that isn't all lifted or stupidly modified by some idiot at their farm is extremely rare here in SD.

And mudbogger it's in great condition, and I reaaaalllly want this truck.

Tell the dealer that you are interested, but want the truck to be looked-over by a trusted mechanic. This way you know what condition the truck is in. Then you can go from there. Most dealers aren't "FIRM" on a price, I'm sure there is some negotiation-room. Good Luck .

Thanks for the input everybody, glad to see the realistic side of it here. And mudbogger, ill probably do what you said tomorrow and talk about the price with the dealer.

You could always find a truck out of your area. Use the money you don't spend on this one for a bus ticket to go pick it up.

I second looking outside of your area. As frustrating as it may be (took me months to find my current truck) its worth the wait.

Dang this truck buying thing is way more stressful than I thought it'd be! I think I should just stop and think for a day, and just reflect on the truck and your guys' advice.
