Motorcraft filters are $3 and motorcraft semi-synthetic oil is $17 for 5 quarts at my local walmart. Seems like the best route for the price..:

Don't want anything with any synthetic anything. The truck isn't a power house, it's not anything special it's a driver, the cheap stuff works and does what it needs to do.

I would STAY with the non synthetic that you have been using as synthetics can clean the sludge away from cracked or dry engine seals causing them to leak

I'm not changing over to synthetic. This truck will never see it.

I only run Royal Purple served from dove's flying above. Lol. But seriously. I do run Royal Purple, but I race my truck. Otherwise, hard to beat motorcraft. It's as cheap as supertech at walmart. Lol

You've got a reason to use it. If you need it use it. and that's where I got my oil as that's where I work. It was actually like $5-6 more at mine. And I didn't see any motor craft filters. But it didn't matter as I'm not set on 1 particular oil. Basically what I can afford. I've gotta go pick parts up for the truck that's gonna basically wipe my pay check out..

I agree, mine won't see it either, my last project truck got synthetic by accident at jiffy lube and it exposed an ungodly amount of oil leaks.

It's also a machine that needs lubrication, and better lubrication to an extent can and will help prevent wear. But really, if semi-synthetic cost more than a few dollars over the cheap stuff, I wouldn't do it. But it's the same price.

Yeah it does need lubrication. It's got 205k and has always seen conventional oil? So I believe it's safe to say it's getting its lubrication just fine.. Just really don't believe in synthetic oil.. Would rather just put good old dinosaurs in it.

At that point, I agree, and wouldn't change. I wouldn't even switch to full synthetic in my truck at 136000 miles. But for a new truck, full synthetic might be the way to go.

Yes possibly. But for what I drive it's not gonna really do anything for it but cost more money and potentially more issues

hmmm. Wonder why the price jump. It's a dollar difference per quart between lowest possible and Motorcraft at my WM. My truck has been on royal purple for 130k miles now and runs like new and doesn't leak with a very hard life. But probably switching to Amsoil soon.
