Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
I finished building and installing my enclosure for a 10" sub. I pressed in a couple of bearings in trade for the sub(new, never opened). I originally intended to cover the box with gray automotive carpet, but couldn't find any locally. The box is made out of an old dresser(MDF). How's that for being green? It's glassed and smoothed over, sealed, primed, and painted with a gray hammer tone finish. Added the decal and cleared the entire thing. I'll get a grill later so the kids don't kick a hole in the speaker.
I had to keep the rear seats functional, but needed a little extra sound. I didn't molest the plastic that the jack cover attaches to, just in case I take everything out and re-sell the truck. This is the reason the sub sits low in the enclosure. I had to create a recess in the back to clear for the crap sticking out for the jack cover.
It's pushed using an amp that matches the speaker's 4ohm, 150W RMS output. I don't need a lot, just a little added bass to fill my metal head and occasional classic country needs. Rap isn't allowed as it makes me want to bust a cap in some punk that cut me off on the freeway.
Here's the unit ready to install: (cell phone pics, so bear with me)
Here's a shot of it in the truck. It looks much lighter in color in this pic for some reason, but y'all get the jist of it:
Seat up:
Seat down:
It went in without a hitch. All the wires are hidden, the amp is tucked away, and I'm ready to commute with some good sound.

Were is your amp, if you have one?

The amp is under the passenger seat. I still have to make a couple of stand offs for it so it'll sit level and give it some airflow under it. I doubt it'll ever get hot enough, but I can't stand to see it not level either way. I'm anal like that. I'll post a couple of pics when the stand offs are in place.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Got a bottle of touch up paint from Motorcraft and touched up my tailgate...its obviously not perfect, but it looks a little better....a little less conspicuous. Notice all along the top edge of the tailgate, the bed corners, and obviously the giant rust hole in the middle.
And on my way to pick up a new fuel filter.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Well, my Duralast battery finally began its death throes, so I had it tested at AutoZone to confirm the thing was dying. Sure enough, it was toast...well, after several Montana winters and a few Texas summers, I wasn't surprised. I bought and installed a Duralast Gold and figured out from the warranty info the old one, a non-Gold model, lasted just seven days shy of four years. Not bad considering the climates.

(And no, I don't work for AutoZone!)

David89- awesome!! very nice!!
Trying to replace my fuel filter before this big storm hits the northeast....took me forever to get the old one off...then come to find out NAPA gave me the wrong filter! I have a flex engine he gave me the non-flex....i said flex fuel while i was there too! Oh well, shit happens....just hope i beat the storm....have to wait a 1/2 hour for his driver to get it from the warehouse. >

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Replaced lower ball-joints and inner tie rods. Fresh start, wish I had uni-balls like my upper a-arm on my lowers and heims for steering.

hey, did you order this and had it installed or did a exhaust shop do it? It looks really good. Roughly how much did it cost. I really want to do this to mine.
