Got the '98 back in the garage and have the differential draining. Something went wrong on my regear job. Gotta tear it apart and figure out what I messed up. I'm thinking I got the pinion preload wrong though. I followed the directions but I either missed something or misread something. I'll find out soon enough. :-/

Got my build sheet from Ford today showing all the options that came on my truck. Ford actually called me to tell me it was done and ask if I would like it mailed or emailed. It costs $17 to get it though.

Sorted out all the codes and info for my missing VIN sticker. That took some research.

Just my previous experience; but I've always had wire overheat or fuse issues when not using a relay. Extra lights usually put a pretty large strain on the power supply. What kind of amps and wattage are those lights?

They are the 100 watt lights...I contacted KC and they are sending me a new wiring harness (hopefully with a relay)

I think I figured it out. I have to check the shop manual to confirm it but either the manual had the wrong torque or I read it wrong. I thought foot-pounds was too much.

Sitting at Ford as I type waiting on an oil change

....that moment when you think your truck is done 'cause you saw them drive a road work vehicle through the lot out of the corner of your eye
