Default Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread

(I've not read thru all the posts - but based upon the title of the thread...)

I installed a single Eagle Eyes 50W [internal ballast] HID spot lamp AND a wireless switch to activate it.

If you're wondering why only one, there are three reasons:

1) I had already mounted a pair of Hella 4000X (halogen) spot/driving lights -- with a wireless switch -- to the pre-drilled holes in the Steelcraft brush guard. Those lights were supposed to be long distance animal spotters, but they're rather disappointing.

2) With a pair of lights already mounted -- and not wishing to go TOO far into "Macho Bronco" territory -- I elected to go with just one EE...for which I drilled a third hole in the brush guard.

3) The EE lamp is pretty expensive, and after dropping what I did for the halogens, I couldn't afford/justify TWO lights of that calibre/cost.

If you're wondering what I think of the EE...

It is freakin' awesome. 'Waaaay better than the halogens. And yes - I regret how it went. In good old 20/20 hindsight, I wish I had installed a pair of EE's and passed on the Hella's.

Oh - and the wireless switches are gratifying. I was a little apprehensive about pumping the full juice thru the relays inside the wireless switch, so I installed a 40A external relay for each circuit...and allowed the relay inside the switch to trigger the secondary/external relay. This keeps the surge at virtually nothing inside the wireless switch...AND if the external relay fries I can replace it without sacrificing my wireless switching capability.

my friend shrink wrapped my truck because it was my last day at my job. So I took the shrink wrap off and put it on his f150.

Washed it inside and out, cleaned air filter and MAF sensor, and cleaned engine bay, too dark for pics though by the time I finished

Don't take this the wrong way but...why is it "they" got the filter in the first place?

Did you know there's a little book and sometimes a computer by the filters?

Was it just one of the cute chick counter girls? If so...you didn't double check her work? Lol

No they have a computer that runs off a database that has the filter thread size and type in it THEY meaning the guy who puts it in their computer system is lazy and thought oh its the same thread size guess it fits. And when I'm paying that much for oil and a filter I'd expect it to go to a company that has educated employees. Guess not...

You trusted someone to be smart? Where have you been living the last 10 years?

I haven't trusted anyone in a long time. Always watch out for yourself. Sure as hell nobody else is.

Next time take the 60-90 seconds to flip through the Fram book and this won't happen again.

You call the clerk lazy? What about you? He was standing there trying his best. You were just sniffing farts while he did something you should/could have done yourself incredibly easily.

Don't point the finger so quick. Nobody takes responsibility for their own actions anymore
