Replaced the left, lower ball joint and sway bar end link on the '98.

I would guess that the job would be similar to mine even though I have coils on the '98. To remove the old joint, I just needed to disconnect the tie rod end to get enough room to use my c-clamp press. I removed the sway bar end link since the sleeve was split but I don't think it was needed to do the job. I used a floor jack to control the lower arm movement.
Now to get the lower joint back in the knuckle, I had to disconnect the upper joint. There just wasn't enough movement to get the knuckle back on otherwise.
Just remember, there is a lot of potential energy built up in the spring/torsion bar, so be careful or you can get hurt badly really quick.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
In the process of blacking out my tail lights with VHT Niteshades! I've got 6 extremely light coats (you can still see plenty of red) on it right now and I'm waiting a few minutes before I put on some clear coat.

At least you're rid of the ugly red. Now you can get a new Ranger with a nice color.
Sorry for your loss
