Snow < Mud. IMO. Snow makes other people drive like shit and it worries me on roads more. Mud is just fun.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Wish I can do something to the truck but it's in the shop for a 1500 dollar repair! FML! Freaking coolant was leaking and as for my oil leak, some pressure vacuum was screwed and the rear main seal and oil pan gasket needs replacing so there goes my refund check but good news is that my truck will be better than ever with no worries and it will only take me 5 weeks (without buying nothing) to get that money back from my work

8 times out of 10, the rear main is not the problem. I would imagine it'd take quite a bit of pressure to blow out a rear main seal, and that pressure should have detonated other things as well.
I'm willing to bet your mechanic is replacing it because he doesn't know exactly where the leak is coming from, and he wants the money.

Yeah, I went to go get gas on Sunday and looked underneath and I could clearly see the oil dripping clear as day from the start of where the trans is at (rear main seal). They also said the oil pan gasket is starting to slip out and the coolant is leaking as well. So, at this point, I don't even care no more. I just want my truck back. I'll be able to get the money back before Spring.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
FYI, your rear main seal is 1-2 inches above your oil pan gasket. It's impossible to diagnose a rear main seal without removing the transmission and finding visual damage and oil leakage from the seal. Oil leakage is still hard to diagnose even with the trans removed as the oil from the oil pan gasket has the ability to splash around. It's nice assurance to have a new rear main, but you're probably paying more than you should be for something you don't even need.

They used dye if that helped at all. They told me everything that was wrong. Also, I went to Mr. Tires. My dad isn't here (overseas at work), so him and I can't work on this, so I have no other way

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Nope, not in their case. You can't see the dyed oil on the rear main seal until the trans is pulled, and I doubt they've gotten that far yet. And even then, the dyed oil can still splash up onto the rear main from your leaking oil pan gasket. Oh, and WTF is Mr. Tire? I've never heard of them in my life.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Well I definitely don't have one of those near me. I can see why they said rear main seal. I stand by my comment of them not knowing what they were looking for, it's a tire store first, then a repair shop.
