Started with SOS pads and paint thinner to cut and remove grease and grime, then polished with Mothers alum polish and a ball in my drill. 3 hours later this is what I get to put on my truck as soon as I can get tires put on.

Pretty pleased with the way they turned out. My fingers are killing me from scrubbing around all the rivets with an SOS pad but hey, money is tight and this stops me from doing something foolish like ordering the wheels that I really want. Can't wait to get them on the truck.

I'm fairly new to this forum and not sure how to start a new thread. I have a 2002 4.0 L 4WD with 115K miles and automatic transmission. I just noticed it shifting late from first to second and kind of jerky a few weeks ago. All other gears shift fine. Then last week the O/D light began flashing as it shifts into 2nd gear. The code is p0733 (incorrect gear ratio). I'm worried that this is going to require a complete overhaul because both places I checked (small time mechanic and Ford dealer) throw out numbers like $2200. I've read stories online that would suggest that this is a common problem and there may be an easier more specific fix (solenoid, band, valve body gasket). I'm definitely not a mechanic, but my gut tells me that this could be a much easier/cheaper fix than what they tell me. The transmission was maintained and fluid level and color is good. I would appreciate any advice. The Ford mechanic took my truck for a drive and said he could recalibrate my computer for $100 to see if that corrects it, before going any further. I already tried clearing the codes, but I guess what they do is something different? Should I pay for this service?

Actually was pretty productive. Along with cleaning my "new" wheels I used a roofing product from Lowe's to mat my doors. Road noise is diminished and my speakers sound much, much better. Can actually get the panels to shake. It was a bit of a pita to reach inside and do the outer skin but the second door went better than the first. I'm no expert and have nothing else to compare to but for less than $30 (I have about a third of the 50' roll left) you can't beat this method. No odor whatsoever - I had read about others having trouble with that but made sure that it didn't smell when I bought it. Some do but this one was great. The floor needs to be done to cut engine noise but that'll be another day...

I finally got my magnaflow catback exhaust installed and loaded up my Rogue Performance tune. I'm happy.

Went to the dealership today to have my tailgate checked since its off level, the techy tells me that all Rangers are like that and there would be no point replacing it. Lol I felt like saying that perhaps its wrong that they are all like. replace away my good sir and under warranty. The way he was saying it its sounded like i will be the only ranger with a level tailgate out there. So if you see a black ranger and the box looks different, its =0because my tailgate is level . thats Me=1 «Ford=0. Whats it going to cost them a big $4.95 for that cable

LOL nice, I would of done the same thing. Actually I had the same thing happened to me but different category. Went to Best Buy to buy myself a new laptop and went home to inspect it. I think they sold me a refurbished one in a new box because clearly you can see the cosmetic wear and tear and the computer was acting slow right out of the box. Took it back for an exchange for the same one, same price and everything. They go and check the one that I brought back, and came back to me and said, "it's fixed here ya go". I said, "Good for you for fixing it, that's great! Now let's continue with my exchange". LOL
