Lol yup try 40 below 0, she takes a minute to crank. But I would check your battery, just cuz it's newer doesn't mean that it hasn't gone bad.

I was not too cold or too warm out... about 65 degrees and sunny out. The spark plugs are still the originals, and I've been meaning to change those, and is there really any good way to test the battery?

Yeah, use a digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) you should have anywhere over 12.4 volts and it should be fine in my experience. But that doesn't mean that you don't have a bad cell in it. You can also get a battery load test done. I'd go talk to your local parts house about that, they would also be able to check you battery voltage too.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Take the truck to Autozone and ask them to check your battery. It'll take them a minute or two and it's free.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Unfortunately I'm at my Father's house until next week and the nearest Autozone is about a 30 min drive away.... lol
I'll probably wait it out until next week and get it checked then... unless the motor doesn't turn over anymore.
How often do our starter motors go bad? The truck only has 40K on the odometer and its a 2004 4.0v6

Unless your starter has gotten wet, like you submerged the truck, really nothing should be wrong with your starter. Check the wiring going to the starter, there might be a high resistance. Starters really never go bad until many many years of abuse.

Shit I don't know, I was a little too rough on it yesterday (don't know if that has anything to do with it) but now I've got a "noise" coming from the front end of the engine. It's a grinding, squeaking, rattling sound. My guesses are timing chain, water pump or some pulley or bearing. Depending on the severity of the repair is the fate of the truck.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
Hauled some old patio furniture to my aunts house. Also killed a bigass bee's nest out of the bed.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
I filled mine up with petrol today & checked the MPG as I always do. Got 34.7MPG. not to shabby for something with a widow sticker rating of 21 city & 26 hiway.
