I would have opted for the ST. A lot more power and still with excellent gas mileage.

The ST is actually cheaper than the Titanium, too bad my wife didn't want a manual

I couldn't afford the extra to get the ST and my insurance would have went up. It went down with the SE. Also I can drive stick but right now I can't because I broke my left knee.

I went to 90k on my Ranger on stock pads. I have a buddy that is at 100k and still on factory pads with his ranger. It all has to do with the fact those were almost all hwy miles.

The tranny "issues" that were reported in the early build focuses were almost all to do with the original software and the fact that they have dcts. Most people werent used to the dct because its essentially an automated manual tranny, so they were all concerned about a bit if shaking when starting off on hills and sometimes level ground as well as some harder shifts depending in how it is driven. Its shifts like a manual, and will drive better if you drive like that. Some issues were actually with the clutches in the tranny, but went away once they were replaced under warranty iirc.

Overall theyre just solid cars. I happen to like the shifting, it is quick and stiff. It also has huge storage capacity in the back because the seats fold down flat.

Dont expect much from the stock tires in snow though, they really struggle in any sort of snow or slush and it doesnt help that its a light car.

Love the Foci....we have 3. The 01 ZX3 has 280,000 mi and runs like a top. We have an ST, but its the 2005 version. Soon to have the new and improved one A

All run snow tires in the winter. They really don't give up any grip to our 4WD's with all seasons. In fact, my wife prefers taking a Focus vs the 2013 F150 ECO with 3-4 inches of snow.

Nice car OP!

Good to know. I noticed it felt like it did when I drove a manual. I notice it more when I accelerate very slow.

Thanks and also thanks for the heads up on the snow. I hate continental tires. I will be switching when these wear out. Which probably wont be long continentals suck.

Its harder to tell you are going fast. The only downside is headlights at night from bigger vehicles but saturday she is gonna get 20% tint all around.

I travel mostly highway miles also, and I can understand minimal brake work being done. I've only had my front rotors and pads replaced on my Ranger, however, I've logged 73K miles. I still can't imagine having less work performed and having more miles.

They don't have the nickname Conticrap for nothing, though, I was able to get 69,000 miles out of my four on the Ranger. I finally replaced last Feb. when tread was down to the minimum 2/32nd's. Definitely wouldn't have been able to wait as long this year with this crap weather.
