Default highway RPMs?

Hey I have a 04 4.0 with 4.10 rear and my local speed limit changed to 70mph and at 70 I'm running around 2500rpm. I was wondering will 2500-3000 rpm hurt the truck for a 1.5-2 hour drive?

As long as everything is functioning as it should, there should be absolutely no problem at all doing that.

That's about right for 4.0 with 4.10s. My 3.0 with 4.10s actually ran a little faster at that speed. 2500 rpm is where it should be. 3000 rpm is a bit much and about at shifting speed.

Im almost at 3k going 70-75 mph. Anything above, i would say 4500-5000 rpms is a no go, but the truck wont go that fast because of the limiter, so youre good.

At 100 kmh, I'm at about 2300-2500. I'll go up up 70 mph today and see what the tach says.

That's about where I run too (03 4.0/4.10's).
I spent a little over an hour each way on the freeway @75 to get to the local cabelas(yeah, they get a lot of my money!), haven't had any ill effects from it yet. That is, other than a drop in MPG. Occasionally I get it up to 80-85, still runs like a top even at that speed.

everyone who has a 2001+ 4.0 should be running the same RPM's at 70 MPH. It's the same engine.

but we all have different gear ratios, but yeah my truck is 03 4.0/410s and you'll be fine. The 4.0s can take 2500-3000 all day and love it

Yeah, the SOHC is a screamer. Loves the RPMS.
