Yeah, and so will OPEC and the gas companies! Mileage sucks on the 1990 4.0 XLT towing package.

Had a '96 2.3 5 speed and never got more than 23 highway (cruised at 70). Somewhat disappointed that the 4 banger didn't do better, but for a truck it was good. I was really hoping for closer to 30.

I get 26-27 outta my 97 Ranger 2WD 2.3L and 5-speed manual in OD at 65mph burning bottom of the line crapenol...turning about 2300 rpm. Don't know what gear ratio but stock 215X70RX14 tires. The 93 2WD 3.0L with 4-speed OD manual, stock tires and 3.45 gears always got about 23 mpg at 65 mph turning about 2500. Anything over 20 mpg is aces in my book...in town or on the road.

I was coming from 4 cylinder hatchbacks or VW's busses (got 23 MPG all day at 70 in that). My first car 1981 Datsun 210 with racing exhaust and taller rear differential (posi-traction- they didn't offer that on that model) turned just a bit above 1000 at 55. Redline was 6500 and I flogged it in fourth above 5000 then shifted to fifth and ran it up above 5000 too many times when I was in high school.

Car handled great on used Yokohama 60's soft compound large block tread tires. They were almost bald and were basically slicks.

reviving an old thread here to ask what gears I should get for my rear end. I'm on 4.56 with 33s and I'm getting shit milage. I wanna go down to 4.10 or 373 and get 32 inch tires....because they're like 300 dollars cheaper for some reason. also my ranger didnt come with a tack so maybe I should use boriss wack formula lol
