Default Is there any value left? 1990 Ranger XLT

It is a 4X4 auto with 350,000 Km's or 210,000 miles. Box and fenders are full of rust but mechanically it has been maintained and just passed out E-Test. Aftermarket brush guard and box liner. 4.0 L V6. (I have a new Ranger on order.) Do I just take it to the wrecker or does it have any value as a parts truck?

I probably does , fenders are about 100 bucks and a box you can get for between 800-1000 bucks , however it probably isnt worth it to you to replace the parts , you could probably sell it for 1000 as is with the e test ,

Thanks Mazdaman. I see you are close to me. I have had the thought to put it out with a sign on it. My new Ranger is a 4X2 so I suspect the aluminum rims from the old one won't work and I won't need the brush guard as I won't be taking the new one into the bush as I did the old one. Someone could use it as a donor vehicle for parts...Warn hubs etc. Decision time.....thanks again, Dave

I'd say sell it. Someone out there may want it for a diy, especially during winter or I hate to say it, a beater truck for their job or whatever. I used to buy a beater to drive to work because where I had to park wasn't the greatest part of town. Your ranger would have been perfect for that, nobody would have bothered it because of its condition.

May as well list it on craigslist and see what happens... put it up for like $1K OBO and if you don't get any bites in the first 3 days lower it to $800.... have you asked the dealership for a trade-in value on it? have you KBBed it?

[I] did not ask the dealer about a trade as I intended to keep it for use on my property for bringing wood out of the bush etc. I believe I got a good cash deal on the new one as Ford gave me $4500.00 incentive, I got a further $1,000.00 off because I was a Cosco member and I also qualified for the "X-Plan" which meant another $1,004.00 off and Ford will let me pick $1,000.00 worth of add-ons when it is delivered. I have a friend who runs a used car business and he is asking more for a 2008 Mazda without taxes than I am paying for my 2010 with taxes in....his is the same truck except it doesn't have one option that I ordered. Craigslist is a good place for me to start except that it is probably worth $1,000.00 to me to keep it. Dave

ford would have given you 1000-1500 of for the retire your ride program. i has looked at a 2010 ranger sport in january an they offered me 1500 for my 94 explorer. new truck out the door was less then 18,000. i ended up turning it down an kept my old explorer an money in my pocket for gas lol
ill be looking for another beater in a few more months. i cant decised of i want another truck or suv yet.
