Default Advice Please

Okay so my Ranger, well it's old, and it shows. INterior smells of musty/mold probably from water damage. Exterior is not in the best shape, including rusting holes around the rear wheel wells.

I'm thinking of "junking." it.

It's going to cost me more to get to pass inspection the end of this month then I think it's worth.

Needs brake work, which I can do for cheap, but tires alone is more then the truck is worth.

I''m thinking about just getting rid of it and maybe some day getting a different Ranger once I pay off some accumulated debt, and after I get my Focus paid for and my wife van either up to par or replaced.

What do you all think?

in my opinion, once a vehicles annual maintinence costs more than the vehicle is worth its time to sell it. i would try selling it to see what you can get for it before you scrap it. that would be a last resort for me.

I think you said it yourself . My advice is get your debt paid off or at least down. have 2 vehicles now , one that needs work , like you said you can always get another Ranger . Sell the one you have now ,what ever you get for it ,apply to the debt or use to fix the van . When you are in a better financial condition then get your Ranger .

Well I think I'm going to throw some cheap tires on it, fix the brakes, which is easy and run it into the ground. It's my work vehicle and I kind of need it.

If you can get it fixed for cheap, go for it. But if you end up putting more money into it then you think it's worth, time to let her go
