Default Question from a newbie

Hi, newbie here with a question. I have a 2000 Ranger XLT Supercab with 3.0 V6 engine and automatic transmission. It's got 110,000 miles and I've had no major problems with it, just routine maintenance. I am no mechanic. Just wondered how many miles I can reasonably expect to get out of it. The same mechanic has maintained it the whole time and said I should be able to get 150K out of it with no problem. What say you?

Thanks,
Gary

Exactly, as stated above. Run her till she drops. Thats one thing rangers are good at, getting beat up and still run.

I don't have a 3.0 but my 4.0L runs like a champ.. my buddy has 3.0L with 170k and his has been somewhat abused, but it still runs just fine!

The 3.0L Vulcan V6 is a very reliable if somewhat underpowered pushrod overhead valve engine that if maintained properly should give you hundreds of thousands of good miles.

Mine made it to about 150,000 before it's first engine died. I'm on engine #2. Oil pump started giving me problems on #1, died at 75mph hauling a bed-full of cabinets, so i would say I was partly to blame on that one. Change the oil regularly. Pay attention to any drips underneath, and wash it once in awhile...they like that!

I have seen a 96 ranger 4cyl 5spd that hade 380k on it. I asked the guy about it and he only replaced the clutch "which is going to go out regardless" the battery and alternator and thats it. I was truely amazed.
