It's a good law, although it's pathetic it has to be a law, common sense really isn't I guess. There's been many times in the rain or heavy snow, some dumb ass comes up beside me in the big truck, and due to my spray, or clouds of snow, I can't see them. All they have to do is light them up.
It's been a few years since I played over the road, so I didn't know about the laws in the other states. But like I said, common sense,,,,,,,

Ya. According to the police and firefighters, that bumper saved my passengers (aka my girlfriend) life. It took the full force.

Yeah. I learned in 93' when I started driving that it helps to have lights on at all times. I don't know why the U.S. isn't like Canada and makes Daytime Running Lights mandatory. Ohio just passed a law last April that makes lights mandatory when wipers are used, so even if it is lightly raining or snowing the headlights must be on. I practically always use headlights out of habit. I feel safer especially when other drivers have their headlights on.

Iirc it became a law that new cars have DRL starting in like 2011 or 12.

I did not know that, but I do feel a little safer if it is true.

Laws in a few states,

PA enacted that, however since i started driving i follow grand-dad's rule

"lights on for safety"

Start the vehicle, turn on the lights. Yes it has resulted in a dead battery once but once in the habit hard to do that now.

If i am driving, Lights are on... .

To OP. Hope no one was hurt, live and learn .

Like every other area of the world, we have idiots here too. Some peopel never turn their headlights on because they believe the DRL's are good enough for night driving.

California the law is the same wipers on lights on which I always have my headlights and foglights on just cause of how small our trucks makes me feel better

Sorry about the truck..glad your ok.
But dam alot of rangers have been wrecked this year...we should compile a list with pics of Crash Rangers of 2013.

And as far as driving durinf the daylight with your lights on..i hate that.
All motorcycles must have their headlights on...to help with visibility. Now if all cars start having their lights on...it has the reverse affect.

I have a big lifted red ranger...if u cant see it in broad daylight...your blind as hell and no matter of lights are going to help.
