Never ran out of gas in the truck...ive ran it so low, down to E and that Check Gauge light has never came on.
I have ran out of gas on my motorcycle many times.
Once the week after i got it, wasnt sure how many miles i could go on a tank. Ran out on the interstate about 2 miles rom an exit with a gas station.
I called a bud who lived near by and he brought me some gas.

Another time i was on my way back from Algona Iowa at the big biker rally and i ran out in the middle of nowhere...but i had an extra gas can full strapped to my trailer so i made it.
I have a 3.8gal tank and do good to get 50mpg without the trailer. But with it, it depends on how full i have the trailer, but i would say an average of 35-40mpgs.
It sucks when i ride with a group of bigger bikes who have 6-10gallon tanks. Lol

I'm pretty sure the check gauge light is tied to the gauge, not the actual fuel level. So if your gauge shows 1/4 tank when you're really empty, the light won't come on.

I don't put a lot of stock in fuel gauges. I set my trip meter ever time I fill up and know that I need to get gas at least every 300 miles. I usually fill up when I hit 250 just to err on the side of caution.

check gauge is based on the gauge its self, which is based on the float in the tank. this is why truck older than 04 always show inconsistent readings depending on where the fuel is in ur tank

Twice. 92 Ford Ranger's gas gauge crapped out at 1/4 of a tank, and I didn't realize that it went to empty... Same thing happened with my 92 Exploder... but my mom was in the car with me... and it was the middle of winter. She wasn't very happy...

Never in 48 years of driving,I never owned a vehicle that the gauge didn't work. You can't make it to the job without a reliable vehicle of some sort.1st priority in my book.
