build the 2.3 or get a 5.0
I jus got a 90 ranger single cab with the 2.3 5 speed for $600 and want to build a drift truck. At first i wanted the 4.6 and the more i looked into it the more i leaned to a 5.0 cuz the difficulty. But im trying to find out what will be cheaper n less headach. Build the 2.3 or ride the shit out of till it blows n drop the 5.0

Crate 5.0, better aftermarket support.

LMFAO at a drift ranger. Go buy a car designed for it and save yourself the headaches.

I dont simply want to buy something. I want to build it. Not the same satisfactory rating know what i mean. And you can drift anything if you lack the power you gain the speed. Hell im drifting a 05 1500 right now crew cab 4x4 lol its not the best choice but you work with what you got. And in my opinion it will work great. Drop it give it stiff suspension and then you need posis and horses

5.0 will be cheaper and make more power in the long run

Re: build the 2.3 or get a 5.0
Why would you put a 4.6 in it lol? I could see a 4v maybe, but why bother unless it was supercharged like the Terminators. A 5.0 can outperform n/a mod motors, especially 2v's, easily and for much cheaper.
I would go with a 5.0 personally, or a boosted 2.3 would be cool. Some of those boosted 2.3's can run really well, but I see a 5.0 being much easier, cheaper, and more reliable.

Re: build the 2.3 or get a 5.0
If your gonna change it out, I would go with the 5.0, the 4.6 is alot wider the the 302, and that makes the fit tighter too......
and lets face it your building a drift truck........your not really worried about MPG's......
