Default Tarps

I haul stuff on a pretty regular basis. So I usually have a blue tarp or two kicking around. The problem is I tend to kill them quickly too. I built a rack system for the truck when I moved to Montana and that tarp lasted about 5 hours on the road even with padding the corners on the rack and trying to get it as tight as possible. So does anyone know where I can get a tarp that is worth a damn? I know truckers have some good tarps, but that tends to be a little heavy duty and they tend to be extremely large lol

The other reason I'm looking is that I'm moving back to Washington in May or possibly somewhere else so I'd like to have it for when I load all my crap in my truck and tarp it down. Thanks in advance guys.

Higher end the better. The more mil thickness, the better. I used to have a nice thick heavy one that I added more of those hook holes onto and it was a total badass. Then it got stolen at a job site.

I think Northern Tool carries some high quality tarps. I'm not talking the $10 ones that fall apart on the road, I'm talking $50+ badasses...

That'd be what I'm looking for!! Thanks Shane. I don't mind spending money if I know I am getting something worth a damn. It's so much better to spend 50 bucks for one thing and have it last 10 years instead of 10 bucks and it last 10 hours.

I drove from Pennsylvania to California with a tarp covering the junk on my bed. The tarp itself was gray and a little thicker than the usual blue ones. I think I bought it at Autozone. It held up well; just a small rip near one of the eyelets. The key for me was tying it down as tight as I possibly could. The less air, the less wear and tear.

The only thing that didn't hold up well was the paint on certain spots of my bed.

I have that mod too!!! Good thing I have a trailer dent mod in the bed too so I have a bigger excuse to get the whole thing repainted lol I had that tarp tighter than a nuns legs on Easter Sunday, didn't help with the blue tarp I had.

Check out www.tarpsplus.com. They have any kind of tarp you can dream of. I got a canvas one for my 4' X 8" trailer. They hold up well with one caution. Canvas tarps are water resistant, not water proof even with treatment. Pick your posion. Canvas tarps will not break apart due to flapping or UV exposure though like a poly tarp will.

At homedepot they sell tarps that are silver on one side and brown on the other. They have big heavy duty rubber reinforcements at the corners and heavy duty grommets. I have never been able to tear one of these things, they're indestructible...
