Missing wheel well splash shield
i dont know what the technical term but the layer of plastic or kydex (i dont know what material) isnt there. My front wells have liner going around the entire area so mud is controlled, but my back end has nothing there to stop the mud. Everytime i take the ranger off road mud gets everywhere under my bed. In the pictures i provided, you can see that theres a liner on top but stops at a certain point leaving the entire area exposed on both sides. The tops is fine, but the sides are a problem.
Also on a side note, since theres no liner/cover in my well, theres nowhere to mount my mud flaps. How would i do this, fabbing it might be my only option

Re: Missing wheel well splash shield
My 2008 was missing those also. I took it back to the dealer and they agreed they were missing, ordered them and installed them. I bought the 2008 new though.
The factory mud flaps do not mount to them anyway. They are not sturdy enough to mount aftermarket to either. The mudflaps mount to the fender edge.

Re: Missing wheel well splash shield
mines got a couple peices of plastic above the mudflap, nothing else. i really wish i had plastic rear wheelwell liners, and might end up fabricating some one of these days. as far as i know though rangers didin't have full rear wheelwell liners.

Re: Missing wheel well splash shield
OP, what year is your truck? I've got an 01 with mud flaps all the way around and front fender splash guards, but nothing in the rear fender. Did you find rear splash guards or are you retrofitting front splash guards into the rear?

Re: Missing wheel well splash shield
Those inner fender skirts on the back aren't missing, Ford in the early 2000's decided, by design and for whatever reason to get rid of them. On mud flaps, there is a bracket that the mud flap mounts to. Alternatively, for XL's and Rangers with pizza cutters, they had a molded to fit the fender type of "splash guard".
*Ford got pretty stingy with those fender skirts as the years went by, I had to go buy one just so I had two on the front. No it was no accident at all, it was by design.

I didn't think they ever had any in the rear, and I had heard about them missing in the front which is even dumber. Lets let cold rain water and puddles splash all over a red hot engine and see if it don't crack!
The skirt parts on mine rotted out but I made new ones out of some stair runner material

Re: Missing wheel well splash shield
I bought my old 94 new in 94, it had them. On the front, I thought about water cracking a manifold, then I thought about added airflow and improved cooling. Not sure what the answer is other than they kept the selling price down.
