Re: Gerber or leatherman
SOG!!!!!!
seriously check them out! they own
i always have the twitch in my pocket and i've had my powerassist multi for 2 years working at les schwab and not a thing has broken on it(and we use the hell out of them) i've only had to sharpen the knife once in 2 years. and this is the only multi i've had where the tip never broke off plus they open soooooo easy with one hand with the gear setup they use
i also have a wave in the toolbox but i break it all the time. im sure leatherman hates giving me new ones every two months lol

Re: Gerber or leatherman
Lewks liek I'm late to this thread...
Genetically, I'm all GERBER since my uncle used to be president of Gerber. But leatherman is made locally and my uncle is dead....so it's a toss up. lol.

Re: Gerber or leatherman
I carry a Leatherman Kick all the time, except at school. I plan on buying the bit driver kit for it. It's came in pretty handy. I will probably upgrade to a different Leatherman in the next year or so, i could use a few more tools.

yeah, i read that before i posted. I could probably get away with it since all the administration like me and my dad is on the school board, lol. Actually, the way the handbook is written, it would actually not be a violation to carry it. Only problem is there are a few people who don't exactly like me or the administrative or my dad for that matter, and would blow it way out of proportion like they have a lot of other stuff and lead to community wide turmoil. So, until i'm 18, i don't think i'm gonna push it, lol

Re: Gerber or leatherman
I've had both and prefer the Gerber over the leatherman.

Re: Gerber or leatherman
Used to carry my Gerber frequently... damn thing is too heavy. I work on a farm, so I ALWAYS have a regular pair of CeeTee pliars... indestructible things. I could probably run them over with a Freightliner multiple times, and it wouldn't hurt them at all. Plus I can use it has a hammer.
And I carry a knife at all times, CRKT brand... bout time for a new one though.
Also carry a flashlight at all times... Fenix brand.

Yep! I got the M16-01Z... that silver bladed spear-point... It has out-lived its usefulness. I don't know if yours has problems, but the frame on mine is pitting and rusting away. The knife gets a good coat of WD-40 every time after it gets wet. I've always had better luck with the black (coated) knives. But the best feature of the CRKT knives is the flipper to open it.
