Default Putting the bed/box back on.

I'm fixin' to put the box back on my truck and instead of paying $13 a bolt for new OE one's I just drilled through the bottom flange of the frame and will be using long hex heads and fender washers w/lock washers and nuts on the bottom. What'ya think?

I wouldn't do that personally.

Drilling the bottom flange of the frame weakens it. In my opinion any additional hole in the frame weakens it. That is the reason that things like hitches and plow mounts utilize existing holes in the frame.

I value your opinion but it's just my daily driver and not a 4x4 so I don't reckon a 1/2" hole is gonna weaken the frame that much. The strength of a frame is in the bends of the steel.

I went to the junk yard and picked up a set of bolts and unuts for $5.00. They needed a little cleaning but work just fine. Mike
