Default Coil Spring Compressor Vs. Strut Spring Compressor?

I am overly confused on if i'd need a Coil Spring Compressor or A Strut Spring Compressor to take the coils off my ranger and be able to put in lift coils.

Would I need the Strut Spring Compressor to "Take-Off" the stock coil springs?

Then Use A Strut Spring Compressor to "Compress" the Lift Coils to put them into the ranger again?

I might be wrong but aren't they the same thing? As far as your Ranger, I'm guessing you have a RWD model? 4X4 Rangers don't have coil springs but torsion bars.

In any case, I didn't need a compressor for my springs. I just dropped the lower control arm using a floor jack and used the said floor jack to lift the arm back up after I installed my new ball joint.

You want the one that goes inside the spring.

Well on my truck I had to have the one that goes inside the spring for the same reason Dan needed them. On the 98+ Rangers the top coil bucket is inside the frame and there isn't enough spring accesible to get the strut spring compressor on there and compress it enough to get it off. The only 93-97 Ranger I worked on we didn't need it and just had to drop the beam (carefully) and the spring came right out.
