The other day 2 of my apprintance's bought Air tool Kits from Canadian tire , 90 Dollars each . They got an Impact gun , Air wrench ,drill and somthin else . I asked one of them to pull a rear bumper off a pick up . Oh boy they get to use there new tool's . They tried for 15 minute to take one bolt off with there impact guns , wouldnt budge . I had to lend them my 20 year old IngersolRand impact gun , 2 sec is all it took .

Lesson Here you get what you pay for !

I took delivery of the Pittsburgh 301 piece mechanics tool set sold at Harbor Freight today. http://www.harborfreight.com/profess...kit-45951.html
I think I paid $145 or so with a coupon. A pretty impressive set for the money, with the exception of the wrenches, which are cheap. You get a very complete set of sockets all the way up to 32mm in the 1/2 inch drive. Three socket wrenches, 1/4 drive, 3/8, and 1/2, all with quick release and they feel pretty solid. You get regular and deep sockets in standard and metric for all drive sizes. Hex sockets, star sockets, phillips sockets, etc. Magnetized screwdriver set. Set of pliers. Crescent wrench. Extensions and adapters. Hex key set. Comes in a plastic case with a slot for every piece and all marked. I know some guys just take the case apart and put the tool flats into their tool chests. Instant tool organizer. It's a bit of a beast at 50lbs, but I don't think you could assemble this set individually for less.

Youtube video of the set:

Just a reminder after investing in your new tools and a bag or box to carry or put on a rolling big wheeled cart for JY be vary mindfull when you get ready to leave one vehicle to get that last little part off another and head out! Check your bag! I don't know how many times I see a ratchet or hammer or screwdriver laying under the car or on the bumper in he floorboard! They are way to expensive to give away!

I only own craftsman's tools. 98% Mac 1% dewalt and 1% craftsman. They're all made by the same guys. Never get craftsman's power tools just ratchets and wrenches and if you can get on a truck ASAP you'll save money on power tools. These of course are all professional tools and aren't for the weekend warrior but you get what you pay for. I have around $2,700 in tools without the box and am no where near where I need to be.

This pliers set is what you get for $99.99 on the Mac truck

You'll get triple that on shit brands but that's what they are is shit brands.

Go harbor freight for minor stuff, but if its a tool that can mean life or death ( jackstands, tranny Jack, ect) go with a good name brand like snap on or matco

Harbor freight jack stands are the best thing they sell. Their aluminum jacks are rad too, just buy the replacement plan so that you can swap it out after a year, no questions asked.

If its anything electrical (drill, impact, grinder, etc.) don't waste your money.

The ratchet strap on the tranny Jack I bought from them failed and I nearly became a literal gearhead! Lol
