I have seen ppl who have put on a traditional ladder rack just moved the truck box back towards the tailgate. It puts a small two inch gap between the front of the bed and the box but doesn't look half bad. I'll try to find a pic.

I went ahead and called about that rack. The guy says he is positive it'll fit, so I am going to look at it tomorrow night.

My opinion :::

Round stock or angle iron . Maybe 4 cross supports in the middle ( one on each end and two inside for support . ) . Too heavy and you will never lift it off either . 2 sides .
You can make it as fancy as you like but just a weld job on raw stock . Engine and oars ? Other gear ? Tie down is important on the highway as they have a tendancy to fly , Maybe a bow rope to the front of your truck and a strap in the middle and a tie down on the stern of the boat to the bumber .

You could get a cap with racks. I have this one but you would probably want cab high for looks.

I checked that rack out, and it fit! I bought it and strapped it on. I have to buy clamps this weekend, where should I look?
