Nobody in the automotive industry uses arc welders . Your not allowed to . Nobody in the industry uses flux core wire either . Only Mig is allowed . You can Tig but its a big pain in the ass . Not good for cars or trucks do to the inconvenience .

And before you all give me a big argument over this . The reason why is because Arc and Core leave alot of impurities in the weld where as Mig does not . Its also runs the coolest of them all .

Also when I fix a car or truck I don't weld it by know how ,I weld it to manufacturers specs . ( some parts are not allowed to be welded they have to be riveted or glued as per manufacturer ) Or even the way your suppose to weld ! And no a weld is not a weld . Are your sure you can weld a plug hole from the outside in or inside out ? better check with the manufacturer ! What kind of steel are you welding ? Regular ferrite steel ? HSS steel ? SHSS ? UHSS ? or exotics ?

Ya only use Mig , and I likey the Lincon very dependable

Has anyone here ever Mig Brazed before ?

Thats a good welder for frames & heavier stuff, but ya definitely don't want to do any body panels with it.........

I've got a Lincoln Mig Pak 100 that I converted to gas, and its a good lil' welder. I've had a professional welder do some follow-up work for me (I spotted the stuff, but didn't think my lil' 110 welder would penetrate enough), he climbed up under my truck to burn in my leaf spring perches, and he said, "damn, you coulda finished this yourself, you got some good penetration!"........

BIGGEST thing for good weld penetration is be sure the metal is CLEAN and bevel the heavin stuff for good penetration on both pieces.

With stick welding you do get slag but that's why you take a chipping hammer to it when done. But mig is still the way to go

Ya mig is really good. Its is also way easier to weld with it. I would rather if I had the money get a mig welder.
