Question Accessory relay block

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, so if it isn't feel free to move it.

I plan on installing a fair amount of additional electrical stuff in my truck, and I hade shoddy/cluttered wiring. I already have 4 relays, along with all associated wiring, cluttered up near my battery, I need to add another one for my HID's so my fogs stay on with my highs, I'll be installing a CB radio with dedicated power, and doing stereo shit, couple winches, etc. in the future.

Has anybody built a secondary accessory relay/fuse block that they run all their accessories through? This is something that is new to me, so I'm not even sure what to make it out of, or where a good place to put it would be in the engine compartment.

I used one of the smaller relay blocks out of an explorer for my fans. It has some extra spots for relays too! This is an unfinished picture though, I need to find a better way to mount it. Just an idea.

^ nice idea & recycling of materials

I've got some OEM expo relay boxes in the garage that I was going to use for my driving/backup/fog lights relays, but I got lazy & just stuffed them in behind the battery for now.

If you use relays that have the screw tab on the top, you could just take a piece of 1/2" wide bar stock & drill holes to mount the relays, then mount the bar to the frame somewhere convenient.

Wyman: Do you have a picture of it with the lid off? How many spots does it have for relays & fuses?
buggman: Not a bad idea; I'll have to consider it.

I think his will look something like this....

The one on the left is set up for 3 regular 5 pin relays & 2 small 5 pin relays while the one on the right is set up for 2 regular 5 pin relays & 4 small 5 pin relays.

The main distribution panel looks basically like this

Okay, so the main distro panel is the big one by the master cylinder that says "Power Distribution Block" or something? And that one can handle both relays and fuses?

Any idea how much something like that goes for usually? It looks like it is just what I need.

Yes, it is the one that says power distribution block, and they handle both fuses and relays. I would check your local junk yard, they shouldn't be too much.

I use those. You can hook multiple units together, and be able to wire it up anyway ya need to.
