Default Rear Crossmembers

Got my dad's '03 FX4 level 1 recently and it needs some work. It's from Ct and has the ubiquitous rust on the frame. Now I managed to get 4 of the bed bolts out, the bed is junk, and had to grind the other two out. I haven't removed the bed completely yet as I have no where to dispose of it until this coming Friday, one that happens though I know I'm going to have crossmember issues. I know the first two, holding gas tank strap and the one behind it, are pretty far gone, as is the piece that covers the spare tire.

long story short, I'm looking for inspiration. Anyone replace those pieces with tubing or anything else?

What I have for now, I'll upload more once the bed is off. Should be Friday, as long as the rain holds off.

Looks like it! Glad I don't generally have to deal with things like this being in the South.

I think I'd find a south or west truck frame and or another truck and swap or rebuild as needed for that kind of work. I'd almost want to file a Claim with the State of CT and file for damages of YOUR property. IF a STATE will pay for a wheel/tire destroyed by a pothole.. I'd certainly chase them for the cost of replacement vehicle! Argument being - They caused early demise of your property and made it unsafe to drive.

I think you could be one evasive maneuver from a lawsuit or possibly certain death ..
