Default shifter extention

Hi I have a 95 xlt 2wd 5 speed. I am not too fond of where my shifter sits now I want to extend it about 6 inches. Anyone ever done a home made extention? If so how did you do it? Thanks

You could get the shifter out of a manual 150, it fits right in (same tranny) but is longer as the cab is bigger

Not me, but I have followed someone's build where they did so and they claimed it went in without issue.

So I went to local salvage yard today and grabbed a shifter that was just laying in the truck without thinking. Get home and realize f150 shifters are angled toward the driver seat. Didn't have time to see if it will sit how I want but I am going to try in the morning. But by the looks of it I'm going to need to fabricate the shifter a lil

There's a 50/50 chance that it will fit. And that's because of the way the stub that the shifter sits on is made.

There are two different shifters for Rangers using the M5OD. 1990-1997, and 1998-2011. These two shifters do not interchange, and the picture below demonstrates why.

I feel you may have a similar issue with the F150 shifter as well, depending on what year truck it came out of.

Just for reference, I found who I was talking about - Deere245 on rangerpowersports.com

He had a hurst short throw for a 150 (I did not know that earlier)

Here's The one I made, about 5" IIRC. If I powdercoated it black, it would blend in really good. 3/8-16 threads at the top and connects to the shifter using 1 1/4-20 set screw.

That looks really good how did you go about making that?

I made it on my lathe. I could make another if your interested in one let me know what you think it's worth. I could polish it or powdercoat it too.

How much does it cost you to make it?

I figured it up over lunch, id say $30 is pretty cheap without me giving it away. 6061 t6 aluminum.

Satin aluminum - $30
Powdercoat (most colors) for $5 extra
Polished for $15 extra

You would have to let me know what kind of connection you want for the shift knob also.
