Custom tire carrier
So I have the spare tire holder off of a 2001 blazer😂thinking about turnin it into a tailgate tire carrier which would replace the original tailgate, making it into a hitch attachment that would fold down so the tailgate is still accessible, or something of that nature... Thoughts, inputs, responses, anything, let me know what you think! The diagram is what the arm looks like, obviously gonna have to cut and weld some areas back together after re-shaping it....

AMMOBUILT used one off a Kia and added it to a bumper he built. Might give you some ideas. Bumper Build

Re: Custom tire carrier
I have to swing it down first, I would rather have swing to side but bed can't support the weight.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, I was gonna chop the angled sections off and re-weld it to make it straight. How did you mount yours?

I like the setup he has but I wanna kinda combine that with a prerunner type of look, maybe turn it into a tailgate?

I feel like if you fold down the tire carrier it's gonna get in the way as you're standing behind truck trying to open tailgate...like it sticks back too far. Opening to the side still requires clearance behind your truck but you can stand at the gate.
I used a Jeep rear bumper and had my buddy weld mounts on it, as well as shift the spindle and latch to the right to clear the gate dropping

Re: Custom tire carrier
Certainly couldn't fit those wheels under the truck.
