Default Air compressor suggestions?

I hope this is the correct forum. I plan to do a some minor metal work on my truck and other projects. I was wondering if someone here could point me in the direction of a decent air compressor for tools such as die grinders, angle grinders, cuttaway tools, impact wrenching etc.

I know some of you who do this for a living will suggest $500+ air compressors, but I can only budget about 250 MAX. I also dont need a HUGE air tank. If anyone has recommendations let me know please. Im looking to buy soon, but am a little lost as to the specs.

Also, recommendations for tools would be helpful as well.

Default Re: Air compressor suggestions?

The answer to your question is pretty straight forward. Look at the max air consumption of each tool you you want to use, then make sure the compressor you buy can keep up to the tool that uses the most. If you pause during work and depending on what tool you're using, then you can factor that in. If you don't, and your compressor can't keep up, then you will be taking breaks you may not want to be taking. If you use more than one tool at the same time, add up total cir consumption and buy a compressor to support that or plan on taking breaks or don't use everything at once. It's not really about people who "do this for a living will suggest $500+ air compressors" as much as it is about buying a compressor that can deliver what you need to run the tools you want to use. The price to accomplish this will be the price, be it "hobby" or "for a living". Producing enough air volume at the required pressure does not discriminate nor have mercy for a hobbyist on a firm and fixed budget; it is what it is.
