My only addition to this and your 3.0/5.0 war is that if your going to "not" waste your time doing all of this, why not include a more capable drivetrain as well. Since your not wasting your time it shouldn't be a big deal. You want to make your truck a flatbed gooseneck, match the powerplant

I kinda have to make it a flatbed, I could replace it with another bed but in 6 months it would look like crap. If I was driving highway speeds it would be a different ball game. The 3.0 although underpowered, will very rarely see anything past 3rd gear. Putt putting around in the newer diesels (pre urea) fills the damn dpf. Its just a project to screw around with. Its a handy little pickup, just trying to make it a little more handy.

Honestly, I think there's a point where being different crosses over into, "Look at ME!!!" Not that I'm saying you want to show it off, but its a little ridiculous. Of course, don't let that stop you. I'd love to see a project log on it if you did build one. In my opinion, no doubt your truck is capable of hauling it, just saying that it's probably not good for it. Each to his own though..

Go for it! Your truck who gives a shit what other people think. If you like it that's all that matters. I've seen guys with stacks on their rangers, don't judge makes them happy, and gives me a good chuckle so everyone wins. I saw a 6 door ford super duty on a trailor at farm and fleet, almost ass packed the car in front of me cause I did a double take. So if he can do that you got this. Also not many people can say they got that kinda set up.
